Calling Barack Obama “Exotic”
If you google the phrase “obama exotic“, you get all kinds of hits talking about Obama’s years overseas, how he might be a muslim, and issues of race. The thing is, the term “exotic” is nothing more than a thinly-veiled codeword designed to clue in the electorate that Obama is not “one of us”. It is at best xenophobic and at worst racist. If you don’t like Obama because he is a black man, have the guts to say so. If you don’t like him because he went to an Islamic school, speak your mind honestly. Don’t rely on linguistic subterfuge as a way to propagate racism and ignorance in the United States.

When was the term “exotic” first used to describe Barack Obama? It appears that the GOP plans to use it openly as evidenced by Pat Buchanan on MSNBC’s “Verdict” tonight.
